Class III
330 Carbide bur to begin prep
FlexiDiamond Strip used to clean interproximal contact
6862-012 diamond used to create long bevel
Notice the uniform 2mm long bevel
Mylar strip in place while applying Cosmedent’s EnamelEtch, well past the long bevel using the #1 brush
Bonding adhesive in place (Cosmedent Complete)
Place Renamel Microhybrid A3 to increase value and opaque darkened area
Sculpting of Renamel Microhybrid composite with Cosmedent’s 8AL composite instrument to the leading edge of the long bevel.
Renamel Microfill A3 rolled into a convenience form
Sculpting of Renamel Microfill layer using the Cosmedent 8AL instrument
Contouring of restoration using the Et9 carbide bur moving from composite to tooth
Use the Coarse FlexiDisc to blend the microfill margin into the tooth
Use the FlexiDisc 3/8 Medium to finish at cervical
Use the FlexiDisc Medium to contour. Start at the proximal and flex over tooth to keep proximal contour and create perfect embrasures
Use the FlexiDisc 5/8 Fine
Use the FlexiDisc 3/8 SuperFine
Retraction of gingival tissue with the 8392-016 to protect tissue and reduce excess flash
Using the 8A plastic instrument, torque the teeth and gently separate the FlexiDiamondStrip
Use the Fine/SuperFine FlexiStrip
Final polish with Enamelize and FlexiBuff
CLASS III
This technique sequence showcases a Class III composite restoration. First you will see the preparation of the tooth, including etching and bonding. Then the technique walks you through the placement of the substructure of the tooth with either a microhybrid or nanofill composite. The composite is polymerized, and then the Renamel Microfill (Cosmedent) is added to simulate the enamel surface of tooth structure. The final layer of microfill is polymerized for 60 seconds and then the finishing and polishing process begins. Notice this technique uses a 4 grit aluminum oxide disc system. It is important that you move through the grits in the following order: coarse, medium, fine and then superfine (Mini FlexiDiscs, Cosmedent). For the final polish use an aluminum oxide polishing paste (Enamelize) with a felt buff.
