      SINGLE ROTATED TOOTH

An incisal chip on the left central incisor requires esthetic restoration.   The tooth is rotated with the mesial portion lingual to an ideal arch form.  Proper restoration adds composite to the facial surface with little to no tooth preparation.

Facial enamel is prepared with a diamond bur to produce a rough surface for improved bond strength.  Alternatively, cleaning the enamel surface with fluoride free pumice  and prophy cups is done.  Enamel is etched with 37% phosphoric acid for thirty seconds.  Acid is washed for ten seconds and dried to produce a white chalky appearance.  A single layer of enamel replicating composite is added and cured.  A smooth surface produces an unsatisfactory result as seen below.  Producing surface contours and texturing combined with incisal edge modification produces an ideal result.
